Santorini is one of the most beautiful Greek islands

Santorini , or Thira by its official name, is part of the Cyclades Islands. It is located in the Aegean Sea almost halfway between Athens and Crete. If you are looking for a vacation that will take your breath away, then Santorini is the right place!  Oia is undoubtedly the most beautiful town on Santorini. Smooth, gleaming white houses carved into the rocks above crystal blue water and incredible sunsets take your breath away. Local tavernas on the island serve fresh, delicious Greek food literally a few centimeters from the sea.

The best option to see all of Santorini is to rent a car, as taxis are expensive and buses are rare. The two main towns in Santorini are Fira, the capital, and Oia, the tourist capital. The town of Oia is known as the best place for sunset. Located on the top of the island, it is a great place to view the caldera. Fira is the largest town on Santorini and also offers some of the best views of the caldera, full of souvenir shops, restaurants, bars and of course whitewashed houses. Are you an outdoor enthusiast who loves hiking? If you are into walking, you can walk from the town of Fira to Oia. It’s a strenuous walk of about two and a half hours (about 11 kilometers) that takes you along the caldera cliff, but it’s worth the view.

The gastronomic scene of Santorini. offers all kinds of homemade dishes from cheeses, olives, baklava, wine and traditional Greek dishes.
Santorini is famous for its seafood, if you love seafood then it’s the perfect place for lunch and Ammoudi Bay is one of the best places on the island to find it. You won’t get fresher seafood than in Amoudi Bay, prepared grilled octopus and saganaki (delicious fried cheese).

Watch a movie under the stars in the open-air, charming Kamari cinema. It is located in a lush garden with a massive projection screen, and within the cinema there is also a small bar where you can buy drinks and popcorn.

The Akrotiri lighthouse is easy to find in the southwestern part of Santorini, and is one of the oldest lighthouses in Greece, having been built way back in 1892. Its white walls just above the sea on the edge of the cliff make it an exceptional attraction suitable for watching the idyllic sunset.
