A walk through history
Castillo San Cristóbal
The most popular attraction in the area is undoubtedly Castillo San Cristóbal, the iconic citadel that sits atop the town, perhaps the most famous site on the island, a fort completed by the Spanish in 1783 to protect the town.
Las Ruinas Ponderosa
If you enjoy sightseeing and photography, be sure to add this attraction to your list, the views through the bay windows to the west, overlooking the ocean are breathtaking. Faro de la Ponderosa was built in 1889 by the Spanish government and served as an aid to navigation on the way from Europe to Panama.
Wandering Old San Juan, you won’t need a drinking plan; almost every two meters you will find at least one bar. For beer lovers, La Taberna Lúpulo is a craft beer paradise. Inside, you’ll find locals and visitors basking in the heat and sipping their Bell’s and Victory beers for hours, and maybe opting for the Perla Punch cocktail, which mixes lemon and coconut rum, fruit juices and beer. Another place for cocktails is the unpretentious La Factoria is where creative libations and live music meet.
Café Cuatro Sombras
Coffee lovers visit Café Cuatro Sombras, here you can order at the counter, sit in the rustic cafe or on the back patio. No matter what ambiance you are looking for, your cup will be filled with 100% Puerto Rican coffee.
If you are looking for a cold drink, order a pina colada, it is a national cocktail that contains two types of rum, which is not surprising because the world-famous Bacardi distillery is located on the island. Bacardi’s rum factory in Puerto Rico is the largest distillery in the world. Known as the “Cathedral of Rum”.
A beautiful typical traditional lively street in San Juan
Flamenco Beach in Culebra, Puerto Rico is consistently ranked as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. This beach is practically without waves, which makes it ideal for snorkeling, swimming, relaxing, playing on the sand or simply swimming at the beach.
